Diageo Uses Scotch to Plug Gap in Pension Plan - NYTimes.com -
Brilliant idea. In short, Diageo is giving still-aging scotch to it’s pension fund. Once mature, it will buy it back. Sounds like more and more companies are moving non-cash assets into pension funds. Found on American Drink - a great new blog about one of my favorite things.

A Peek Into Netflix Queues - NYTimes.com
Possibly the most interesting interactive graphic the Times has produced from social data. Beyond some of the surprises in this data, this is a small, yet perfect example of why open data is so powerful. Kudos to Netflix for releasing the data—I hope we see more like this.
Daring Fireball links to a sharp student redesign of the UK power plug, which reminds me of our toaster, the Breville Die-Cast. Pulling out this plug feels totally safe and sturdy. It’s a great little toaster overall, with really cool controls including a progress bar and the world’s best button: “A Bit More”.
I have the same toaster and I love this detail of it. Makes it satisfying to unplug and ensures you never pull on the cord rather than the plug.
Ah. The usual Christmas crap. #bestbuy

Love what was done with the quirky lawn chairs at the end of their short lives in Times Square’s new pedestrian plaza. Looks as if there’s a lawn-chair-magnet at the center. Gothamist has some more shots of the (dis)assembly.

Finally getting around to painting the living room. Well, the boyfriend is. I’m loving the color.
